Gender Differential Effects of Technical and Vocational Training: Empirical Evidence for Tanzania

ABSTRACT This article investigates the gender differential effects of technical and vocational education training (TVET) in Tanzania, using data from 2014 Integrated Labour Force Survey (ILFS). The multinomial logit model results for employment mobility show that TVET significantly improves males’ as well females’ chances entering into formal employment, while reducing their probability working informal agriculture sectors or being unemployed. further although increases earnings significantly, returns to are substantially higher more statistically significant females than males. decomposed gap Oaxaca (1973) Blinder decomposition technique revealed there is a earning Tanzania; males tend earn incomes females. result implies investing girls’ skills will play role toward progress equality, poverty eradication, inclusive economic growth.
